Welcome to St Aloysius College Primary
The Primary School is located in Balzan and was previously Stella Maris School, which used to be run by the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. Students are admitted to the Primary School in Kindergarten 2 or Year 1 through the ballot system and go on directly to Secondary Education after Year 6.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
St Aloysius’ College Primary School is a Catholic educational institution, which embraces the spiritual and pedagogical tradition of the Society of Jesus, and provides personal care for all students.
As educators, we guide and support learners to successfully develop their full potential. The skills-based curriculum promotes the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual development of all students.
Together with parents and guardians, we aim to foster Ignatian values in our students as they grow into active participants within their community.

In brief, the policy for the admission of pupils to St. Aloysius’ College Primary School is as follows:
In Kindergarten 2, by ballot and according to Secretariat for Catholic Education Regulations
Brothers of students already attending St. Aloysius’ College enter directly in Kindergarten 2.
Boys of St. Aloysius’ College full time employees who have been employed for at least twelve months enter directly in Kindergarten 2.
In accordance with the Secretariat for Catholic Education regulations, should there be more siblings of students and children of employees than places available, siblings of students take precedence over that of children of employees.
If a vacancy arises for Kinder 2 and Prep 1 in the Primary School, and the school management team decides to fill the vacancy, parents will have to apply to the Secretariat for Catholic Education and follow its regulations.
If a vacancy arises for any of the years, except for Kinder 2 and Prep 1 in the Primary School and the management team of the particular school decides to fill the vacancy, it will be made public and a student will be chosen from applicants by ballot.
Four places, two at Kindergarten 2 level and two at Form 1 level, will every year be reserved for the children of asylum seekers.
Exemption from regular Attendance for students of Kinder 2 and Prep 1 (refer to Note below) in the Primary School in case family is abroad for serious reasons:
Children registered at St Aloysius College are obliged to attend school regularly from the beginning of the scholastic year. An exemption can be given in case parents are going to be abroad for a serious reason like work, sickness or study for a period of one scholastic year as from the date when the child should start attending school. To be given this exemption, parents need to write to the Admissions Board of the Secretariat for Catholic Education to inform the Board of the need, the duration of their stay abroad and to send any relevant documentation that proves that they are going to be abroad for a serious reason. Parents can ask for an exemption for a second scholastic year by writing to the Admissions Board and providing the necessary details. The Board will inform the parents about the decision taken. The decision of the Board is final. The place reserved for the child will not remain available if the exempted child does not start attending school by the stipulated date.

Chaplaincy
The Chaplain together with the Chaplaincy Team at St Aloysius College Primary strives to address the faith and spiritual needs of the young students. Focused on the formation of students in the Christian lifestyle, the Chaplaincy organises initiatives and activities with an Ignatian taste.
The areas which the Chaplaincy focuses on are the following:
- Liturgical life of the school (Mass, Confessions, Special Celebrations)
- School Year Theme (Developed with whole school and class-based initiatives)
- Specific Prep-based initiatives (eg.Holy Communion Preparation; Initiatives around St Aloysius, Ignatian Spirituality, Prayer)
