OUR MISSION STATEMENT
St Aloysius College Secondary School is a Jesuit institution, which aims to accompany all students in their journey as adolescents to achieve their best potential, while educating them for life.
In order to help students become “men for others”, the School strives to promote the physical, emotional, social and spiritual development of all members of its educational community.
The School prepares its students to follow diverse educational pathways of their choice while embracing Ignatian values in their everyday lives.
Admissions
Admissions policy for St Aloysius College

The policy for the admission of students to St. Aloysius’ College is as follows:
Primary School: In Kindergarten 2, by ballot and according to Secretariat for Catholic Education Regulations
Secondary School: In Form 1 from St. Aloysius’ Primary School and afterwards by ballot and according to Secretariat for Catholic Education Regulations
Sixth Form: In First year Sixth Form through the points system. (Please refer to updated Sixth Form prospectus)
Brothers of students already attending St. Aloysius’ College enter directly in Kindergarten 2 and Form 1. In Form 1, if the number of brothers applying for admission exceeds the number of places available, the candidates will be chosen by ballot. At Sixth Form level brothers/sisters of students already attending St. Aloysius College will be eligible for the same conditions.
Boys of St. Aloysius’ College full time employees who have been employed for at least twelve months enter directly in Kindergarten 2 or in Form 1. In Form 1, if the number of boys applying for admission exceeds the number of places available, the candidates will be chosen by ballot. At Sixth Form level, children of College full time employees will be eligible for the same conditions given to St. Aloysius’ College Secondary School students.
In accordance with the Secretariat for Catholic Education regulations, should there be more siblings of students and children of employees than places available, siblings of students take precedence over that of children of employees.
If a vacancy arises for Kinder 2 and Prep 1 in the Primary School and Form 1 in the Secondary School, and the school management team decides to fill the vacancy, parents will have to apply to the Secretariat for Catholic Education and follow its regulations.
If a vacancy arises for any of the years, except for Kinder 2 and Prep 1 in the Primary School and Form 1 in the Secondary School and the management team of the particular school decides to fill the vacancy, it will be made public and a student will be chosen from applicants by ballot.
Four places, two at Kindergarten 2 level and two at Form 1 level, will every year be reserved for the children of asylum seekers.
Exemption from regular Attendance for students of Kinder 2 and Prep 1 (refer to Note below) in the Primary School and students of Form 1 in the Secondary School in case family is abroad for serious reasons.
Children registered at St Aloysius College are obliged to attend school regularly from the beginning of the scholastic year. An exemption can be given in case parents are going to be abroad for a serious reason like work, sickness or study for a period of one scholastic year as from the date when the child should start attending school. To be given this exemption, parents need to write to the Admissions Board of the Secretariat for Catholic Education to inform the Board of the need, the duration of their stay abroad and to send any relevant documentation that proves that they are going to be abroad for a serious reason. Parents can ask for an exemption for a second scholastic year by writing to the Admissions Board and providing the necessary details. The Board will inform the parents about the decision taken. The decision of the Board is final. The place reserved for the child will not remain available if the exempted child does not start attending school by the stipulated date.

To be given this exemption, parents need to write to the Rector of St. Aloysius College to inform him of the need, the duration of their stay abroad and to send any relevant documentation that proves that they are going to be abroad for a serious reason. Parents can ask for an exemption for a second scholastic year by writing to the Rector and providing the necessary details. The Rector and the management team of the Primary School or the Secondary School will decide each case on its own merits. The Rector will inform the parents about the decision taken. The decision of the Rector will be final. The place reserved for the child will not remain available if the exempted child does not start attending school by the stipulated date.
Note
With regards to students of Prep 1, if the student was admitted into Kinder 2 and attended Kinder 2 and needs to be exempted in Prep 1, the application for an exemption should be sent to the Rector of St. Aloysius College. If the student was admitted into Prep 1 through the Secretariat for Catholic Education regulations, the application for an exemption should be sent to the Admissions Board of the Secretariat for Catholic Education.

Sport
A range of extra-curricular sporting programmes are organised using our premises. A full update will be published before the start of the new academic year.
College Church
The Church annexed to our Secondary School has been fully restored and renovated with great care. Bookings for services may be made by contacting Fr Paul Zammit on XXXX XXXX.
College Theatre
Our theatre is fully equipped with hi-tech sound and lighting technology, with a seating capacity of XXX. Bookings can be made via XXXXXXXX.
Copytime Bookshop
Our College bookshop can be found on the first floor of our Secondary school, and is open between 8.00am and 2.30pm. Find out more.

Chaplaincy
The mission of the Secondary School Chaplaincy is to foster the development of the students in Christian life and values.
Students can call on the Chaplain whenever they feel the need. If the issues concerns more discipline, their studies or some personal problem they are referred to the competent departments after obtaining their consent. On the other hand, other departments and members of the staff refer students to the Chaplaincy whenever the need arises, again after they obtain the students’
Members of staff also avail themselves of the presence of the Chaplain whenever they feel the need (a difficulty, confession, sharing about their lives…)
At times parents also contact the Chaplaincy when they feel the need to discuss something about their family or their children’s moral or Christian life.
